When you live like roommates and the house still works
The bills are paid and nobody is fighting. You miss being a couple. Start with ten minutes on the same sofa.

The house works. The bills are paid. The children get to school. At night you sit in the same room on two phones. You are kind, in a flat way. You cannot remember the last time you laughed at the same thing.
This is roommate energy. There was no big betrayal. There was a year of logistics. This page is only about putting one small bid back in the week — not a surprise trip, not a new personality.
Who this is for
Couples who still function and no longer feel married. You are not in a cold war. You are in a competent fog.
One bid that is not a chore
A bid is a small ask for attention: “Look at this,” a joke, a hand on a shoulder, “sit with me for ten minutes.” Roommate houses only bid about tasks. You need one bid a day that is not a task.
- Pick a ten-minute window after the children are down, three nights this week.
- Phones in another room.
- Sit on the same sofa. You may talk. You may not. The assignment is the sofa, not a State of the Union.
- Once during the week, name one thing that still works: “You still make the children laugh.” Say it in the room.
I miss sitting in the same room without a list. Ten minutes tonight. Phones in the kitchen. We do not have to solve anything.
If they say they are too tired, ask for a clock time tomorrow. Do not turn the no into a verdict on the marriage.
Two questions
Is this enough if we have not been close in a year?
It is enough to start. A year of fog does not lift in one speech. It lifts when small bids get answered, then another, then another. The 30-day cards are for that.
What if I am the only one trying?
Keep the sofa and the specific thank-you. You cannot keep “we will feel married” alone. You can keep ten minutes that you do not fill with a lecture.
If you want more than this page
The free Warmth Index takes a few minutes and gives you a next step for tonight. If you want the full written pages you can reuse, the 30-Day Connection Challenge ($27) arrives by email as soon as you pay. There is no class and no phone call.
